Connect the Xbox 360 Wireless Gaming Receiver to your computer
Insert the USB connector into a powered USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on the computer.
Note: The USB ports on the front of your computer are probably not powered USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports.
Try using a USB port on the back of the computer.
A green light on the receiver indicates that the unit is working.
Now open the Device Manager by pressing together (Windows + X) :
A menu will pop-up in the bottom left, choose "Device Manager"
Now find the receiver unit, which will be under "Other devices" then "Unknown device" at this point.
Right-click on it and choose "Update Driver".
Click on "Browse my computer for driver software".
Click on "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer".
Choose "XBOX 360 Peripherals", usually it's at the bottom of the list.
Note: If Xbox 360 Peripherals is not present, you need to install the driver first.
Download driver for Windows 64bits or Windows 32bits .
And then choose the latest version for the "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver for Windows"
It will prompt a message saying "Windows does not recommend installing the driver", ignore it and install it anyway.
Click "Yes".
Well done, the device is installed.
You can see that the receiver is now properly named "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver".
Now let's test if it's working:
Turn the Xbox360 controller on (be careful to not turn your Xbox 360 CONSOLE on):
Put your receiver in search mode by pressing the button below:
Start searching for a receiver:
When both devices find each other, they will blink and then only ONE light in the controller will be lit, indicating which player you are. In the picture this controller is player 4.
